See the lighting of the fresh pine Nautical Christmas Tree, the Fishing Buoy Tree, and the Original Key West Lobster trap. Holiday concerts, the Classic Car Show, and the Lighted Boat Parade are just a few of the events you won’t want to miss this holiday season. Swap out the snow for sand this Christmas season!

Annual Hemingway Days

July 22 - 24, 2021

Did you know that America’s literary giant, Ernest Hemingway, spent most of the 1930’s living and writing on the island of Key West? Ernest Hemingway wrote many of his best-known works in the second-story studio he lived in during his time on the island. This event brings in Ernest Hemingway look-alikes, writers, anglers and fans of the late author’s work together on Key West. One of the most noteworthy events in the look-alike contest, in which hundreds of white-bearded, cocktail slinging Papa Hemingway doppelgangers ham it up for the crowd, then take to Duval Street for a mock bull run.

If you’re wondering what Goombay is, it’s a form of Bahamian music and the festival is filled to the max with rhythm of all forms: gospel, reggae, calypso, soca, hip-hop, and more. Key West’s Bahamian heritage is celebrated with Caribbean food, arts, crafts, dancing, face painting, carnival rides, and parades. To top off the fun, the Junkanoo Rush, a traditional Bahamian celebration will be performed with costumed marchers and dancers!

Fantasy Fest

October 22 - 31, 2021

Every October, the Fantasy Fest brings thousands of adults to Key West for the wildest extravaganza around. Dating back to 1979, a few local business owners decided to create an event that would bring visitors to the island in a typically quiet season and it has grown every year since. Fun-loving revelers from around the globe bring their creativity and imaginations as they descend upon Key West each year in October for 10 days filled with costuming, parades, libations, and excitement! Keep in mind that with the exception of the Goombay Festival (see below), a lot of these activities aren’t for kids.
